This award recognises those companies who are doing the most to develop initiatives which give something back to the community. It is not intended for community organisations who already undertake community action but rather those commercial organisations who have identified initiatives’ which are beyond their business objectives.
This category is open to businesses or organisations involved in the delivery of leisure, tourism, visitor attractions or hospitality. The judges are looking for a place or business that enriches the area and helps to make Brighton & Hove a great destination to visit and live in.
This award recognises a successful event that took place between April 2016 and April 2017. The winning event will demonstrate innovation, a sense of distinctiveness and an occasion which really put Brighton & Hove on the UK map.
This category is open to independently owned businesses, less than three years old and based in Brighton and Hove. The judges are looking for businesses and organisations that are already creating waves and show clear evidence of their ability to make the business succeed. Franchises are not permitted to enter.
The judges are looking for a clear commitment to customer care and innovative customer services. Everybody says that they do it, but tell us how your organisation is really delivering great customer service in the Brighton and Hove.
This award is open to employers of any size or type in Brighton and Hove who have achieved excellence in providing an environment in which employees can develop their full potential, achieve outstanding success for their business and really thrive! You are welcome to support your application with staff testimonials.
This award will be made to the company that has created a business which is focused on supporting the green economy as well as helping the City, and in turn our Planet, to become more sustainable. It is open to all types of businesses from commercial, to community interest to the voluntary sector.
There are many businesses who have had great success trading beyond the City but who does the most to put the Brighton & Hove on the national or international stage. This category is exclusively for businesses which have been trading for more than one year and do at least 40% of their business outside of the city.
Brighton & Hove is famed as a world hotspot for interesting, independent shops.
The judges are searching for an independent retailer who offers an individual, innovative and exemplary customer service experience.
The business is greatly loved and supported by local shoppers and provides the City with an element of quality and uniqueness which is worthy of special recognition and local accolade.
Franchises are not permitted to enter unless their headquarters are in Brighton or Hove.
The judges are looking for an outstanding business that has made major strides in the creative industry sector. The Brighton-based business should be producing cutting-edge creative media and/or technology that have made a big noise in the creative world and beyond.
NB: Creative industries include businesses creativity at their heart – for example design, music, publishing, architecture, film and video, crafts, visual arts, fashion, TV and radio, advertising, literature, computer games and the performing arts.
This award recognises businesses in the private professional sector (accountants, architects, solicitors, lawyers, financial services, education etc) who provide quality service, unrivalled expertise and deliver a market leading service to its customers.
This award recognises a managing director who has made a significant contribution to his/her business, whether they are the owner or employed in the company. The judges of this category will be looking for a hardworking, creative and innovative individual who has demonstrated vision, clarity and focus in responding to a range of business challenges.
NB: Individuals can submit their own entry. Alternatively, an employee, colleague or other interested party can nominate an individual.
This award recognises an outstanding fast moving business that continues to grow year on year, outstripping the performance of its nearest competitors. This business will demonstrate commitment to excellence through its continuing investment in developing sustainable growth and has been trading for four years or less.
The Best Business in Brighton will be awarded by the judges to the business they feel has stood out head and shoulders above all others on the final shortlists.
This award will be made by the judges to the individual they feel has done the most in the last twelve months to put Brighton & Hove on the UK map.
